Pearce's New Writeup

Life is good at this foster home! I am recuperating from the days I was expected to act like a Labrador Retriever and I am rediscovering the joys of being a BEAGLE! What does that mean, you may want to know. Well...
- I love a good snuggly cuddle, especially if it is accompanied by a belly rub.
- I love to eat!! FOOD! FOOD! more FOOD! And I did a bit too much eating in the past, so I’m rather on the chubby side right now. I eat my dinner at the same time as my foster sisters, but someone needs to be nearby to redirect me back to my bowl. Hey, I just want to sample what the girls are getting!
- My sniffer works overtime! I love to take in all the smells everywhere I go. Inside, outside; I’ll put my nose in it.
- I really love to chew. My foster lady is impressed that I have only chewed doggie-appropriate items. Rawhide chews are great! I had a brief fling with a stuffed toy when I first got here, but I really like the rawhide chews the best.
- I want to be near you... all the time! Oh, I’m not intrusive. Right now, I’m dictating this message from under the desk with the computer on it. I’ll even spend some quiet time in a crate if you’re concerned that I may be in the way. But, PLEASE, keep me close to you!
Pearce does best with girl dogs... with some boys, he tries to dominate. He would also do well as a pampered only pet.
He is a teeny tiny guy... and needs to drop a few pounds to be fit and trim. Pearce is familiar with the concept of leash walks: when he sees the leash, he wags his little bottom furiously! But he does need a refresher course on leash manners: he is distracted by smells and forgets that there is someone at the other end of that leash. He’s also a wanderer... his leash handler needs to stay alert or else be tripped! But, he doesn’t pull and will do his business on lead.
Pearce has more than an idea about housetraining... but he needs more time in our home to earn the housetrained icon. However, he already goes to the back door to be let out... and even woofed to alert me when I wasn’t nearby. Once outside, Pearce promptly does his business.
All in all, Pearce is a cuddly, quiet couch potato searching for his forever family. His needs are small... but the returns-- his adoration and affection-- are huge!
